Is Now a Good Time to Buy a House in Austin or Georgetown?

This is one of the most common questions I hear every week: “Is now a good time to buy—or should I wait?”

Here’s my honest answer as a local Realtor: it depends on your goals, but for many people, buying now can be a strong move if the numbers work. Why? Because when buyer demand slows down, you may get:

  • Better negotiation opportunities

  • More seller concessions

  • Less bidding war pressure

  • More time to make smart decisions

In areas like Hutto, Jarrell, Taylor, and parts of Georgetown, I’m seeing opportunities where buyers can negotiate closing costs, rate buy-downs, and even repairs—especially on homes that have been sitting longer.

Local Expert Tip: The “best time to buy” is when you can afford the payment AND plan to stay long enough to build equity.

If you’re renting right now, I can also help you compare rent vs. own so you can see the long-term difference in wealth building.
